Divine Pitch Musings: True Thomas

Divine Pitch Musings is a series where we play songs that resonate with us, at A = 432Hz. True Thomas - trad. Lyrics: True Thomas he lay on a grassy bank Beneath an apple tree And there he saw a lady fair come riding o'er the lea. Her skirt was of the grass-green silk Her coat of velvet fine And at each toss of her horse's mane rang fifty bells and nine. Well Thomas he stood, took off his hat He got down on his knee "Oh hail the Queen of Heaven! whose like earth ne'er has seen." "Oh no, oh no, oh Thomas" she said "I cannot take that name They call me Queen of Elfinland Morgana is the same. "With harp and carp, oh Thomas" she said "I've come with you in mind If you would see fair Elfinland And leave this earth behind. "You will return, oh Thomas" she said "Oh this to you I swear You will return from Elfinland within the seventh year." So they rode and they rode, and they merrily merrily rode They rode for a year and a day Until they came to a red river that lay across their way. "What river is this?" true Thomas he cried. "Oh please to me do say" "This is a river of blood" she said "That spilled on earth this day." So they rode and they rode, and they merrily merrily rode They rode for a year and a day Until they came to a crystal river that lay across their way. "What river is this?" true Thomas he cried. "Oh please to me do say" "This is a river of tears" she said "That spilled on earth this day." So they rode and they rode, and they merrily merrily rode They rode for a year and a day Until they came to an apple tree That grew along their way. "If you'd be true, oh Thomas" she said "And never tell a lie You may take from the apple tree As we go riding by." Well Thomas he wore a coat of brown and shoes of elfin green and for seven long years and a day on earth he ne'er was seen.

Divine Pitch Musings: Whiskey in the Jar

Divine Pitch Musings is a series where we play songs that resonate with us, at A = 432Hz. Whiskey in the Jar - trad. Lyrics: As I was going over the Cork and Kerry mountains I met with Captain Farrel and his money he was countin' I first produced my pistol, and then produced my rapier I said "Stand and deliver, or the devil he may take ya" O there's whiskey in the jar Work for yer daddy-o, Work for yer daddy-o There's whiskey in the jar. I took all of his money and it made a pretty penny I stuck it in my pocket and I took it home to Jenny She sighed and she swore that she never would deceive me But a curse upon that woman, for you see she tricked me easy O there's whiskey in the jar... I hung my hat and coat and I went up into my chamber Never thought my Jenny'd be the one put me in danger She stole away my pistol, filled my charges up with water Then she sent for Captain Farrel to be ready for the slaughter O there's whiskey in the jar... I dreamed of gold and silver and for sure it was no wonder But the sound of cold hard iron was what woke me from my slumber I first produced my pistol but she'd stolen away my rapier and I could not shoot for water so a prisoner I was taken O there's whiskey in the jar... Some take delight in the fishing or the bowling And some they only like to hear the cannon-balls a-rolling But I'll take delight in the juice of the barley I'll raise a glass to the judge and another to the jury O there's whiskey in the jar...
